I looked into Simion a bit, and it seems he doesn’t openly claim to be a racial nationalist — he’s more a Romanian nationalist in that he wants to 1) preserve the sovereignty of Romania within the context of EU membership, i.e. he’s Euroskeptic, and 2) promote the interests and protect the rights of the Romanian diaspora, especially in Moldova, where Romanian is spoken and approx one third of the population identifies as Romanian — I did not find much about his views on migration, but if he’s Euroskeptic it’s certain he opposes things like the various migrant distribution schemes of the EU (which are now demographically destroying Ireland).

The focus of his opponent in the upcoming runoff seems to be on development of infrastructure and the Romanian economy — he aligns with the EU and favors integration of Romania into the EU — Romania is one of the biggest beneficiaries of EU aid, as measured by % of GDP — obviously this aid will be important to economic development in Romania.

When an economy, any economy, has robust growth with sufficient job opportunities, increasing real wages, better benefits and an expectation that the future will look like the present; then people are not as worried about immigrants coming into a country.
